Medicare Advantage
What should I do if my Medicare Advantage PPO is canceled?
A Medicare Advantage PPO cancellation notice is unsettling, but it can give you a protected opportunity to choose new coverage.
By Greg Bass · September 2, 2026If you have a Medicare Advantage PPO, do not be completely surprised if you receive a letter before the Annual Enrollment Period saying the plan will not be offered next year.
In some California counties, carriers that added PPO plans in recent years have later reduced or discontinued those offerings.
If you receive a cancellation letter, do not trip: a plan non-renewal generally creates a Special Enrollment Period to choose another Medicare Advantage plan.
If you return to Original Medicare instead, you may also have guaranteed-issue rights to certain Medicare Supplement plans, so keep the notice and review the deadlines carefully.
